mauriceWashington, Nov. 30, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Maurice Clemmons, a 37 year old man has been identified in the case of the Lakewood police shootings. He is currently under the supervision of the state Department of corrections. At 8:15, in the morning of Nov. 29, four officers of the Lakewood Police Department were shot down in Parkland, at the Steele Street Forza Coffee House. The police have declared a reward of $100,000 in the case.

Records show that Maurice Clemmons is a convicted criminal who has a lengthy record of convictions against him, including felony and robbery charges. He had been transferred from Arkansas. The former Governor of Arkansas said that Maurice had once been granted clemency, despite being awarded a heavy sentence for a particular crime. However, he was soon arrested again for the violation of the parole and was taken back to serve the full sentence that had earlier been awarded him, but he was released as the prosecutors dropped all the charges they had against him. He had also been convicted for child raping and assault of a police officer. His involvement in this case has not yet been confirmed. His neighbors describe him as a rather paranoid man who installs cameras all over his house and in the gardens.

The murder of the four police officers, three men and one woman, has been described as “cold-blooded” and a “targeted, selected ambush.” The officers were sitting at the coffee house planning the day’s activities when the gunman walked in and shot them. None of the other people present at the place were harmed. The deceased have been identified as Sergeant Mark Renninger and Officers Tina Griswold, Greg Richards and Ronald Owens.
