October 25, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): A friend of the teenager, who was killed by a shark on Friday, revealed that he had cried out for help just before being pulled under. The incident occurred in the central part of the California coast on Friday.

Lucas Ransom, 19 was just two feet apart from Matthew Garcia who was 20 before he completely disappeared. Garcia said that Ransom had completely disappeared after yelling just once as he was pulled under water by the shark. The attack had been completely without any warning and Garcia recalls having seeing the shark appear suddenly and biting Ransom on the leg. He also admits that Ransom had asked him to help but vanished even before Garcia could think.

Mathew Garcia then proceeded to look for Ransom but was only rewarded by a severe pounding by the waves. He says that blue water of the sea turned completely red after his friend was attacked by the shark. It seems that the entire wave was red, he concluded. Garcia also thought that the shark must have been 18feet in length.

He eventually discovered the body board that had been attached to Ransom by means of a cord and swam over to him. He then tried to do a CPR on the limp body but it was of no avail. The body was already lifeless by that time and the authorities later declared Ransom to have bled to death. The blood oozed out of a ghastly wound on his leg which led to Ransom’s death ultimately said the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department.
