seaSeabrook, Texas, Dec 10, (THAINDIAN NEWS) A major explosion took place at a chemical plant located at the Seabrook town in Texas on Wednesday. The explosion rocked the American Acryl plant early morning at around 9 A.M but fortunately no case of casualty has been reported till now. At the same time, officials have also added that no one has suffered any serious injuries in the blast. However, the blast was supposedly so intense that people who were present even at a large distance from the site could hear it clearly.

Meanwhile, the circumstances that led to the blast still remains unclear with authorities unable to shed any light into the reasons till now. The explosion led to a ball of fire and enormous amount of smoke being released in the air. Following the explosion, firefighters had to face a tough time in dousing of the fire and after working hard for almost a hour they were successful in bringing the fire under control. Speculating that the smoke that quickly spread in the air might contain toxic substances, residents in the adjoining area were requested to stay indoors for a few hours after the explosion.

Seabrook police officials later added that around two people who complained of feeling uneasy were taken to the Memorial Hermann Hospital Southeast, where they received preliminary treatment and are doing well now. However, the company released a statement later which revealed that the blast did not result in the release of any poisonous chemicals.

American Acryl was established in the year 1997 and the facility includes an acrylic acid plant with the capacity of 120,000-ton-per-year.
