HIALEAH, FLORIDA (BNO NEWS) — Five people were killed and several more were injured after a mass shooting at a restaurant in northeastern Florida, near Miami, on late Sunday, police said on early Monday.

The shooting happened just before 10 p.m. ET at Yoyito restaurant, located at 495 East 49th Street in the city of Hialeah, where he confronted several women he knew. A spokesman for the Hialeah Police Department, Carl Zogby, said - while the motive is still unknown - the gunman is believed to have had a relationship with one of the women.

The first victim was shot in the parking lot of the strip mall where the restaurant is located. The man, who was reported to be in his early 30s, shot a woman before entering the restaurant where he opened fire on employees and visitors.

Zogby said four women were killed at the restaurant, while three others were transported to Ryder Trauma Center. Their conditions were not immediately released.

The suspected gunman committed suicide a few blocks away from the scene.
