jack1Eugene, Apr 16, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Activist and well known author Jack Herer passed away on Thursday, in his family residence at Eugene. He had been suffering from certain complications that had turned severe after he suffered a major heart attack in September last year. This year in March, he had shifted to Eugene with his wife, who expressed her deep sorrow at her loss, saying that she found it hard to digest the fact that he is no more. Jack Herer was 70 years old at the time of his death. He leaves behind his wife, Jeannie Herer and their six children, and also a brother and a sister.

Jack Herer has been suffering from some serious health complications from a pretty long time. He had suffered from a massive heart attack recently, in September 2009, and had to be admitted to the hospital. He survived, but was left with major complications, to which he ultimately succumbed. Moreover, even before that, he had a stroke, following which he was partly paralyzed, although he recovered a lot after that. He attributed most of his progress to the effects of psychoactive mushrooms.

In fact, Jack Herer had been known as one of the principal advocates in the cause of legalizing marijuana in the country, which finally took effect in many parts of the state during his lifetime. He was also the author of popular books like “Grass” and “The Emperor Wears No Clothes.” In fact, it was this last book that had launched the movement for the legalization of the herb in the state. Thus, it is indeed sad that he passed away just as the movement is actually getting positive results.
