Margaret Sutcliffe says that ‘Larry the cat’ at Number 10 is hers
February 24th, 2011 - 10:46 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattLondon, Feb 24 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A woman is claiming ownership of Larry the rat-catcher.
The Daily Mail has reported that a woman, Margaret Sutcliffe, is claiming that the cat is not Larry but Jo. She claimed that the animal was adopted as a stray some two years back.
Larry is no ordinary cat. The animal was unveiled by Number 10 Downing Street earlier this month as the ultimate rat catcher. The animal immediately became a star but embarrassingly, Sutcliffe is claiming that the animal might have been stolen.
Sutcliffe and her family have subsequently launched a campaign on Facebook to force David Cameron to return the cat to them. On the Facebook page, Sutcliffe wrote that, “He never let anyone hold him except me, so I’m not surprised he scratched those journalists. It sickens me that David Cameron isn’t satisfied with cutting all our services and hiking up the VAT… he’s taking our pets as well!”
The Facebook page was opened by Sutcliffe’s nephew Tim. Tim claimed on the Facebook page that the animal did run from their house last October and they are very certain that it is the same cat that has ended up at Number 10 as Larry.
Sutcliffe says she has hair of the animal that might contain his DNA.
Daily Mail has since removed the story from its website.
