Many Teens Today Are Ready To Unfriend Their Parents On Facebook, Study Says

Aug 30, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Seems like everybody now a days has become a slave of micro-blogging sites. Be it Facebook, My Space or Twitter. However, the craze is mostly seen among teenage girls and boys for whom internet and social networking sites have become another mode of recreation. A recent survey made by one of the web portals reveal that nearly one third of the Facebook teenagers are ready to unfriend their parents on their respective social networking sites and mostly they avoid their mother than their father.
The survey shows that the mothers of these teenagers keep an eye on their personal chats or even their day to day activities. Jeanne Leitenberg, 27, the founder of one of the Facebook site which speaks about disliking the fact of parents joining Facebook, says that the mothers of these kids join Facebook to be a part of their life but they forget that it is actually “horrifying” and “intrusive” for their children. Another site “my parents joined facebook” also reported that everyday they get an about 20 complains form the teenagers who say that their parents are interfering in their life through the social networking site.
The teenagers have also complained about their mothers writing irritating messages on their social networking sites which embarrass the youngsters to a great extent. Whatever, the teenagers say, the recent study also says that more than three-fourths of parents on Facebook are connected to their children and it has become the current trend of the generation. One of the sources feel that mothers join Facebook to reattach their loose ends of the relationship but they tend to disturb their children when they feel that they are neglected.
