Man strips at Va. Airport checkpoint in protest
January 5th, 2011 - 9:19 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattVirginia, Jan 5 (THAINDIAN NEWS) It seems the Transportation Security Administration still have their hands full in trying to convince Americans that the new airport security checks should be accepted.
Following the introduction of the more invasive new airport security checks, several people have protested their displeasure. Some have sworn while others have cursed but a 21-year-old student at the University of Cincinnati, Aaron B. Tobey had another way to protest. Tobey striped to his underwear to protest against the new security measures.
The incident happened on Thursday at the Richmond International Airport.
The TSA announced new airport checks last year. According to the TSA, the new checks will ensure that new threats posed by terrorists are handled properly. The new measure makes it mandatory for travelers to either pass through the advanced full body scanners or submit themselves to what the TSA call the “enhanced” pat-down.
The problem with the scanner is that many people fear the health impact of the radiation and the fact that passengers are rendered naked on the monitors.
When you decide for the pat-down, a TSA agent of the same gender will be allowed to search any part of your body.
