haiti3Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Jan 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Just as the Haiti officials were giving up the search operation in the earthquake hit Caribbean island, a 24 year old Haitian was pulled alive from a rubble in the devastated city of Port-au-Prince late last week. The man has been identified as Wismond Exantus, who used to work in the grocery store of the Napoli Inn Hotel, under the rubble of which he was rescued eleven days after the disaster struck.

After being brought out of the wreckage, fluids were administered to the man by the French medics who have been treating him since then. Lt Col Christophe Renou, of French Civil Protection later implied that despite being under the rubble for such an extended period of time, Wismond Exantus was doing considerably well and surprisingly was in good condition. At the same time, it has also been revealed that the man was severely dehydrated but fortunately did not suffer from any kind of fractures.

It is being presumed that the man was able to survive owing to the fact that the debris that fell on him largely comprised of wood rather than concrete. The rescue teams managed to reach the location where Wismond Exantus was trapped after being intimated by the man’s family. Meanwhile, the man later revealed that he was able to make it through all these days by thriving on soft drinks and snacks.Interestingly, the man was rescued within hours of the Haitian government bringing an official conclusion to the search operations to find any more survivors of the catastrophe.
