MIDLAND, TEXAS (BNO NEWS) – A resident of Midland, Texas on Thursday was sentenced to 172 months in federal prison, followed by 8 years of supervised release for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute charges, prosecutors announced.

Miguel Antonio Carrillo, 30, was arrested in September 2009 by the Midland Police Department. An anonymous tip informed the police that Carrillo was on his way back to Midland from California with a large quantity of methamphetamine meant for further distribution.

Officers spotted Carrillo’s vehicle on Interstate 20 shortly after. They attempted to pull over his car while on traffic but Carrillo accelerated and evaded the police officers after exiting the interstate into the city of Odessa. He was driving faster than 80 mph and eventually lost the cops.

The next day, Carrillo was apprehended at a Midland home. Officers found inside the property the methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Carrillo finally accepted to have made three previous trips to California to obtain meth, bringing approximately three ounces each time.
