Man arrested after attempting to break into a Rockville Centre, NY home

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NEW YORK (BNO NEWS) – New York police on Wednesday arrest a man in Rockville Centre, New York who failed to break into a residence and then attempted to steal a car with a knife.

Leonard Griffin, 40, confronted a 27 year old male homeowner on the side of his residence and attempted to gain entry through the rear door. The victim was able to secure his door and alert the authorities.

When police officers arrived, they observed Griffin, wielding a gravity knife, attempting to steal a car. Griffin fled on foot when Officers approached and after a short foot pursuit and a brief struggle, he was arrested. The knife was recovered.

Griffin was charged with Burglary in the 2nd Degree, Grand Larceny in the 3rd Degree, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon in the 4th Degree, and Resisting Arrest.
