West Palm Beach, Jan 3 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The man who had murdered four of his own relatives in Palm Beach County on Thanksgiving Day was apprehended at a Keys motel late Saturday night after authorities said they received a tip just minutes after the quadruple murder story was aired on America’s Most Wanted. The police said that they received a tip about the killer after the show was aired.
The tipster had called up the police and said that a man who resemblances the man shown on America’s Most Wanted was present in the motel since 2nd December. The caller also said that he was using a blue colored Toyota. They checked out the details given by the person who gave them the lead and they found the 35-year-old killer Paul Michael Merhige, at the Edge Water Lodge Motel, 6565.1 Overseas Hwy, Mile Marker 65.5, on Long Key.
Paul Michael Merhige had indeed checked into that motel on 2nd December but he was careful enough not to use his real name. He had used the fictitious name of John Baca and also provided an address in Homestead, Florida, Jupiter police said.
Meanwhile the victim Makayla Sitton’s parents, Jim and Muriel Sitton, were ecstatic that the killer was arrested and was in police custody. Jim Sitton works for WPTV in West Palm Beach. “I’m elated the monster is in the cage. We don’t have to worry about him killing my wife or coming back for my father-in-law. It doesn’t bring my daughter back but at least this chapter is over,” Jim Sitton told The Palm Beach Post.
