Aug 7, (THAINDIAN NEWS) A postal worker named Stephen Hale of Gloucester has been slapped with charges of drug delivery by the cops. The mailman allegedly supplied drugs in his postal service route. He has been accused of trading a drug named OxyContin while doing his duty. The cops reportedly found drugs in his mail delivery truck. The detectives investigating the case have said he used the drug himself. It is being suspected that the mailman delivered drugs to certain locations that fell in his postal route. The allegation has put a question mark on his career. The postal service has kept him on leave without payment. He has not been not fired though.
The customers who he used to serve are shocked though some of them are not sure if he was indeed involved in this scam. He has been released after agreeing for a $5,000 bail. The cops have not stopped grilling him though. The drug OxyContin that the mailman has been accused of peddling is in fact a variant of the product Oxycodone. It is used for treating the victims of chronic pain. Oxycodone is known as a Schedule II controlled drug and its usage is controlled by Drug Enforcement Administration. It is known to be quite addictive.
Stephen Hale, 30, however has denied the allegations leveled at him and pleaded not guilty. He has not opted for an attorney yet. He has been asked to appear at court on September 10th. The cops have said that they have arrested two other people in this connection. They are being questioned to get to the root of the drug selling circle.
