Thomas Tang the 38 year old carrier stole over 7000 J.C. Penney Co. discount coupons which he was supposed to dispatch to the customers of the departmental store. The cops said he sold the coupons on eBay popular Internet auction site. He has pleaded not guilty and has been slapped with charges of grand larceny. The theft that he committed was between October 2009 and January 2011 as it has been reported.

He got almost $35000 from selling the coupons. He sold the coupons of big retailers like kohl’s, Lowe’s as well as JCPenney. He said in his defense that he had to resort to the illegal sale owing to the pressure of foreclosure. He said “I also have a mortgage, and I have to pay cash for my children’s baby sitter. I did not want this to happen, but it was the only way I could avoid having my house fore closed on.” He worked in the postal service for close to 13 years. His wife looked sad and tearful at the court.

The postal-service investigators and JCPenney loss-prevention officials smelt the rat and they contacted Nassau police. This finally led to the bust. The man told the cops that he used the eBay account of his spouse to sell the coupons but added that she was not aware of his secret acts. Robert Parker his lawyer said it was his first crime and that should be considered.
