Magdalen College With A Hogwarts Hangover

Nov. 29, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Who doesn’t want to “Potter” about in the school robes of Hogwarts? At least, the students of Magdalen College do. So much, that they have actually changed the name of their JCR to “Gryffindor”. Not only that, they have also requested the other colleges like Christs Church, St. Hugh’s and Merton to rechristen their common rooms to Slytherin, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw respectively. The popularity of the series was tested in the renaming, and the fact that the proposition went almost uncontested- with only six votes against it- only goes on to testify it.
The move was put to vote last Sunday and passed with an overwhelming majority. That was not surprising, considering that the third years, who proposed the move, had identified their college with the attributes that mark the Gryffindors apart: “courage, daring, nerve and chivalry.” Similarly, they had suggested the names to the other colleges keeping in mind common attributes with the fictional houses. The other colleges, one of which actually forms the set for the Harry Potter movies, were eager to accept the new nomenclature.
There are downsides to this apparently brilliant idea, though. Third year student Zoe Tyndall had hit upon the idea when he was drunk, and did not expect that it would be taken this seriously. A first year student was also not very happy with the change that would stick at least to the next term. The President of the Magdalen JCR have been asked to write an application to the principal, requesting that he change his name to Dumbledore, and buy a sorting hat for the school. Looks like they stop at nothing.
