Rochester, Apr 18, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The daughter of former President Lyndon B. Johnson, Luci Baines Johnson has been hospitalized on Friday and according to reports, she is suffering from a rare kind of auto-immune disorder which can affect the working of the nervous system. She is at present receiving treatment at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. The personal physician of Luci Baines Johnson has revealed that she had prior to this illness suffered recently from a sore throat and hoarseness which Dr. Dudley Youman reportedly mentioned might be linked to the present disease. He mentioned that the doctors carried out extensive tests on Luci Baines Johnson in Texas and then decided to shift the patient to Mayo Clinic.
The personal Physician disclosed to a media source on Saturday that Luci Baines Johnson was first admitted to a hospital in Austin, Texas on Wednesday as she complained of extreme weakness in her arms and legs. However, as her condition got more serious she was on Friday flown to the Rochester Clinic where she was out under the neuro-intensive care unit. According to Dr. Dudley Youman, Luci Baines Johnson had maintained an excellent health before this sudden bout of disease. She had according to him, never suffered from any kind of such disease before. The doctor called that the disease is a “sudden onset” in the life of Luci Baines Johnson.
Tests are still being conducted on Luci Baines Johnson and she is also being kept under watch 24×7. She is at present receiving intravenous gamma globulin treatment which could help to improve her health condition. The National Institute of Health has commented that though the exact cause which leads to Guillain-Barre syndrome is not known, the disease can become dangerous.
