merion Philadelphia Feb 24 (THAINDIAN NEWS) In an article which you can see here, I began to tell you the story of Blake Robbins. Blake, a 16 year old 10th grade student at Harriton High School, who was allegedly being spied on at home, via webcam on his laptop, not by an internet pervert, but by the very school that issued him the computer! Robbins’ attorneys have filed suit an emergency suit that would stop the school from being able to delete any information off of the computers that may be potential evidence.

Robins’ parents files a class action lawsuit on behalf of Blake, as well as the other students which have been carrying around the school issued laptops, alleging that school officials took a photo of Blake while he was in his home. The school officials claim that the webcams were turned on in an effort to find 42 missing laptops, but Blake made the discovery when Assistant Principle Lindy Matsko told him that she knew he was “engaging in improper behavior” when he was at home. She had apparently seen him eating a piece of candy in his own room at home, while watching him via his webcam, and assumed it was drugs, and took a picture. One has to wonder how watching the boy in his home was helping to find missing laptops.

The school is now being investigated by the local authorities as well as the FBI, and the American Civil Liberties Union has also filed a brief in support of Blake Robbins. They claim that the photo was obtained through an illegal search.

Although the school claims to have stopped using the web cams to spy, students simply do not trust them and have started taping over the web cams and microphones on the laptops provided by their school, in an effort to protect their privacy as well as the privacy of their families.
