This investigation follows after a case has been filed against the Lower Merion School district at the US Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Blake Robbins, a student of Merion School district was accused of drug abuse by the vice principal of the school who put in front of his parents as proof some pictures taken on web camera of the student at home. This has enraged the parents who have said that the material that the vice principal thought to be drugs was basically candies. The law suit accuses the school of misusing the MacBook device.

This MacBook camera device has proved helpful to those who use online video chat system. However, the device was put to use by the school allegedly for keeping a track of its students activity out side school. The school has distributed 2300 laptop among its students, which had web-cams that can be turned on remotely. According to reports, the school did not disclose this fact to the students who found their web camera on against their wish on many instances. This has led many to put black tape on the camera.

The school authority on the other hand has said that this facility has been used before also to get back computers reported missing by students. As of now, the authority might get into trouble if evidence of spying is proved true against them.
