Low-flying Pelican led to a car crash
November 15th, 2009 - 2:57 am ICT by Aishwarya BhattLa Marque, Nov 14 (THAINDIAN NEWS) It was a car crash that couldn’t be blamed much on human error as a low flying Pelican was the root cause of the crash. A low-flying pelican distracted a driver in Texas, causing him to steer off the road and drive his multi-million-dollar sports car into a salt marsh, according to the Police.
La Marque police Lieutenant Greg Gilchrist said the man claimed that he lost concentration while driving his French-built Bugatti Veyron. His car is quiet an unique car as it is one of only 15 cars in the US.
Gilchrist said the that driver dropped his phone, reached down on the floor of the car to pick it up and strayed into the brackish water of Omega Bay near La Marque, which is about 35 miles southeast of Houston.
However the identity of the driver is being kept under wraps, due to privacy concerns and the only good part of the accident was that the driver was not injured.
The car, which is named after a Grand Prix racing driver of the mid-20th century, is claimed to be the world’s fastest production car.
