NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA (BNO NEWS) – Two Louisiana individuals, a man and a woman, were sentenced to federal prison and ordered to pay a little more than $12 million in restitution for an embezzlement scheme, prosecutors announced on Thursday.

Donna White, 46, of Avondale, Louisiana, was sentenced to forty months in prison followed by three years of supervised release. Daniel Kinney, 44, of Whitesville, Kentucky, was sentenced to serve a 78-month term and the same term of supervised release.

White was employed by John W. Stone Oil Distributor, L.L.C., which operated a midstream and dock fueling business in the Port of New Orleans, and throughout Louisiana. She was in charge of reviewing payments received, matching them with invoices, and reconciling overpayment by the customers.

Kinney is the boyfriend of White’s sister. Both planned and executed a scheme to defraud J.W. Stone, by stealing checks and funds. Following that, they deposited the money into their personal accounts at various Louisiana banks.

The defendants embezzled approximately $12,700. The stolen funds were used to pay personal expenses, gambling and to fund a racing company, Premier Motorsports, owned by Kinney.
