Louisiana opens part of territorial seas to recreational and commercial fishing
May 12th, 2010 - 11:49 pm ICT by BNO NewsBATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA (BNO NEWS) – Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) announced that a part of Louisiana’s territorial seas are opened for recreational and commercial fishing, LDWF Secretary Robert Barham said on Wednesday.
The area opened, effective immediately starts at the eastern shore of the Empire Canal and ends at the western shore of Belle Pass. All other closures remain in place.
“My goal is to have people out there fishing. Every day we are making new assessments and decisions to give all anglers, commercial and recreational, every opportunity to utilize our state’s great resources,” Barham said.
LDWF continues to work closely with the Department of Health and in order to access all opportunities to resume normal fishing activities on Louisiana’s Coast.
