Lost world discovered at Lake Huron
January 12th, 2012 - 12:16 am ICT by Aishwarya Bhatt ( Leave a comment )Washington, Jan 11 (THAINDIAN NEWS) North American scientists are excited following the discovery of a mysterious wooden pole at the bottom of Lake Huron. Explorers are speculating that the found pole is evident of a lost world.
The scientists say the world was home to the North American caribou hunters about 10,000 years ago.
University of Michigan anthropologist John O’Shea explained that, “The first thing you notice is that it appears to have been shaped with a rounded base and a pointed tip. There’s also a bevel on one side that looks unnatural, like it had to have been created. It looks like it might have been used as a tent pole or a pole to hang meat.”
The researchers announced last month that the pole is aged 8,900 years. Divers from Canada and the United States say they found other items at the bottom of the lake as well. They are currently analyzing the items picked from the bottom of the lake.
The researchers are working with computer scientists to recreate a virtual ridge. The scientists have named the lost ridge Alpena-Amberley Ridge. The name is a derivative from the two towns in the United States and Canada where the ridge originally stood.
The North American caribou hunters are believed to be among the earliest inhabitants of the continent.
