Lonnie David Franklin Jr. Arrested On Suspicion Of Being “Grim Sleeper”

Los Angeles, July 8, (THAINDIAN NEWS) On Wednesday the Los Angeles Police Department arrested Lonnie David Franklin Jr. as the suspected murderer involved in the murder of at least 11 persons in Los Angeles. Lonnie David Franklin Jr. was arrested from his 81st Street house in Los Angeles. The Police officials on Wednesday closed off the blocks around the house of the suspected criminal before the arrested was made.
Steve Cooley the Los Angeles County District Attorney on Wednesday said that Lonnie David Franklin Jr. will be charged with 10 counts of murder and one count of attempt to murder along with special circumstance allegations. If proven guilty of the charges that have been brought against Lonnie David Franklin Jr., the man might receive a death penalty from the court.
Lonnie David Franklin Jr. was nicknamed “Grim Killer” by the media as he went on a hiatus for around 14 years. The serial killer stopped his activity from 1988 to 2002. Most of his victims were black women and prostitutes whom he sexually assaulted before killing. He shot his victims to death. Many investigators since 1980s have been investigating the case but have failed to get a lead over the criminal. However, this time the Los Angeles Police put to use the DNA “Familiar search” technique to get to the suspected criminal.
As per reports, son of Lonnie David Franklin Jr. was arrested by the police after his DNA swabbed and tested revealed that he was a close relative of the serial killer. Drawing the family tree of the prisoner, the investigators found the suspected criminal. The investigators also swabbed the DNA from a cup used by Lonnie David Franklin Jr. in a restaurant to confirm their finding and yielded positive results.
