Lois The Corpse Flower Blooming In Houston Museum Of Natural Science

However, it is not an animal that is attracting their attention. They are all rushing in to see the blooming of the famous corpse flower named Lois. The flower huge in size was supposed to bloom two weeks back. The flower is very rare and it is not only famous for its size. The flower species is known for its awful stench which is similar to that of rotting flesh. The flower is quite rare in the USA and only 28 such flowers have been found to have bloomed.

Lois the flower is 5 feet tall and it has attracted thousands of onlookers to the museum ever since it started blooming. The flower has become famous mostly owing to the increased usage of social networking sites. The smell of the flower notwithstanding it looks quite gorgeous. The museum horticulturist Zac Stayton has become the darling of the media owing to the flower that has started blooming. On Wednesday a thirty of the flower has bloomed and by the next day the blooming will be over.

The museum got the flower Lois an Amorphophallus titanium from Indonesia’s Western Sumatra. It was six years back and at that time it was just a stem. The museum staff took special care to ensure that the flower blooms and kept the room temperature above 82 degrees always for that purpose. However, a couple who are set to get married at the exhibit hall on Saturday are hoping that the odor fades away before the occasion.
