Nov 24, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The presence of a suspicious package at Boston’s Logan airport on Tuesday resulted in the rumor of a bomb scare spreading fast. It took place just ahead of the busiest travel day leading to some chaos. The officials however found out that it did not contain any bomb or explosive. The building where the package was seen was surrounded by 75 emergency responders. A TSA K9 unit was going through the routine check up of bags when the sniffer dogs showed interest in one duffel bag. The bag was x-ray-ed by the cops and the cargo building was surrounded by ambulance. The cops were also prepared to cut open the bag and take the images of its inside to see if there was any explosive at all.
However, the X-ray of the bag did not show any metal and suspicious object inside so they did not have to cut open the bags. The authorities said that the bag contained “some household items, all fabrics. You know, bedding, towels, that sort of thing”. The crews of TSA stressed on checking the bags because they were handled by a new freight handling entity and whether proper security measures were taken was not clear.
More than a dozen Delta workers were evacuated from the cargo building when the check up was going on. Te passenger operation of Logan airport however did not come to a halt since the location was a mile away from the airport terminals. The incident took place just after a global warning that says hardliner terrorist outfits including Al Qaeda may use cargo planes to send bombs to various destinations. Before thanksgiving more than 2 million people will fly.
