The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says it has sent a letter to members of the Word Heritage Committee from 21 countries to inform them of the Administrative Court’s ruling to postpone the listing of the Preah Vihear temple as a World Heritage site.
Deputy Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Thani Thongphakdee (ธานี ทองภักดี), discloses that Foreign Affairs Minister Noppadon Pattama will strictly abide by the court’s ruling during the 32nd session of the World Heritage Committee in Canada. The minister sent the letter to 21 countries on July 5th.
The deputy spokesman says the postponement of the listing will allow both Thailand and Cambodia to request for the listing of the temple and the surrounding area together in the future.
