lionNew York, May 3, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Bronx Zoo of New York showcased three new lion cubs last Friday in the presence of cheering New Yorkers. Hundreds of people had gathered at the zoo for the unveiling of the triplets and nobody could not stop cheering as the baby lions clawed and played about at the Wildlife Conservation Society’s Bronx Zoo. The cubs were born in the month of January to their mother Sukari. Officials of the zoo said that they were yet to give a name to the 4-month old cubs.

Onlookers could not suppress their excitement when the lion cubs first appeared in front of their eyes. Keith Lewandoski came all the way from New Jersey with his 3 year old daughter for the event. Children from the schools of Bronx came in large numbers and took their turns in growling at the cuddly little creatures. Also present with the babies were their parents, the lion M’wasi and lioness Sukari.

Officials of the Bronx Zoo have said that when lioness Sukari had given birth to a single cub the year before it was the first birth of a lion in the zoo in a span of more than 30 years. So it is natural that the birth of the triplets this year has generated immense happiness and excitement for not only the zoo officials but also the New York people in general. The Wildlife Conservation Society which looks after the Bronx Zoo hopes that people will support their effort to conserve the endangered species of the big cats, including lions, in Africa.
