Washington, Nov 8 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Tim Lincecum was cited Oct. 30 for marijuana possession while speeding on Interstate 5, which is around four miles north of the Washington-Oregon border. However a prosecutor has recommended that the two charges be dropped against him.

Lincecum would need to pay a $250 fine for possession of drug, in Washington, if his plea deal is accepted by a judge on Monday. ‘The 2008 Cy Young Award winner received no preferential treatment’, said Grant Hansen, the deputy prosecuting attorney for Clark County, Wash. “This is the protocol for a first-time offender who is cooperative with police,” said Hansen, adding that Lincecum would not face probation or jail time.

“Mr. Lincecum is not out of the woods yet,” Hansen said. “My experience is that 98 percent of the time, the judges follow our recommendations. So I’d expect the judge to sign off. But I’ve been fooled before and I’ll be fooled again. The judge could decide his case is different because he is a public figure, idolized by children and he is a role model.”

“He was placed under arrest,” said Trooper Steve Schatzel of the Washington State Patrol. “It was determined he was not impaired. He was cited and released at the scene. The amount of marijuana he had is about the size of your thumb.”
