Light earthquakes rattle southern California
April 23rd, 2010 - 12:46 am ICT by BNO NewsSAN DIEGO (BNO NEWS) — Two light earthquake rattled southern California on Thursday morning, seismologists said. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
The first earthquake - at 7.22 a.m. local time - had a magnitude of 4.6 on the Richter scale and was centered about 11 miles (18 kilometers) southwest of Seeley, a a census-designated place in Imperial County. It struck about 4.6 miles (7.4 kilometers) deep, making it a shallow earthquake.
Several hours later, at 10.12 a.m. local time, a second earthquake with a magnitude of 4.7 struck the same location. That earthquake was centered about 4.3 miles deep (7 kilometers).
There were no reports of injuries or casualties from the earthquakes.
