Light earthquake rattles southern California
August 7th, 2010 - 1:05 am ICT by BNO NewsPALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA (BNO NEWS) — A light earthquake rattled southern California on late Friday morning, seismologists said, but there were no reports of damage or casualties.
The 4.0-magnitude earthquake at 10.39 a.m. local time (1739 GMT) was centered approximately 10 miles (20 kilometers) north-northeast of Palm Springs, a desert city in Riverside County. It struck about 2 miles (3.2 kilometers) deep, making it a shallow earthquake, according to the California Integrated Seismic Network.
There were no reports of damage or casualties as a result of the earthquake.
