Light earthquake rattles ghost town in Nevada
August 25th, 2010 - 10:46 pm ICT by BNO NewsSYLVANIA, NEVADA (BNO NEWS) — A light earthquake rattled an area near a ghost town in Nevada on early Wednesday morning, seismologists said, but no damage or casualties were reported.
The 3.7-magnitude earthquake at 7.54 a.m. local time (1454 GMT) was centered approximately 12 miles (19 kilometers) east-northeast of Sylvania, a ghost town in Esmeralda County. It struck about 4.9 miles (7.9 kilometers) deep, making it a shallow earthquake, according to the Seismological Laboratory at the University of Nevada.
There were no reports of damage or casualties as a result of the earthquake.
