Light earthquake rattles central California; no damage reported
April 8th, 2010 - 6:18 am ICT by BNO NewsLOS ANGELES (BNO NEWS) — A light earthquake rattled central California on Wednesday afternoon, seismologists said. There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
The 4.0-magnitude earthquake at 3.40 p.m. local time was centered about 4 miles (7 kilometers) northwest of Parkfield, an unincorporated community in Monterey County. It struck about 6.6 miles (10.7 kilometers) deep, making it a shallow earthquake.
The earthquake was initially reported as having a 4.3 magnitude.
There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
