522New York, June 30, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Three newly discovered species of pooches has been identified by the American Kennel Club for the upcoming American breed competition which shall be held at the Madison Square Garden on February 2010. AKC declared that the three newly discovered species namely “Icelandic sheepdog”, “Cane Corso” and “Leonberger” shall be added to the already existing list for 164 breeds registered with the organization.

AKC spokeswoman Christina Duffney told the media that it gives her immense pleasure to add the three new species to their list. Following their addition, “Cane Corso”, “Leonberger” and the “Icelandic Sheepdog” shall be able to take part in the American Breed Competition and in all other activities of the American Kennel Club.

The Icelandic sheepdog was spotted for the first time in the island nation as a member of Spitz family which was primarily used to herd cattle. On the other hand, Leonberger Dogs who were named the German town has been one of the oldest species dating back to 1800. Their furs made them popular among the artists who used to sketch their figures and children who loved to cuddle them. In addition, the Leonberger Dogs have been also trained to act as “Rescue Dogs” who are equally skillful with their operation both in land and in water.

Cane Corso is the only species from the Mastiff family and has been an aid to hunters back in Italy. Cane Corso was on the verge of becoming extinct when a private group of breeders brought it back to the American soil. Cane Corso dogs are perhaps one such species which gets trained very easily and stays attached to their masters.
