FRESNO, CALIFORNIA (BNO NEWS) – A Leigh Acres, Florida man was arrested in Sacramento, California for his involvement in the disappearance of a Bakersfield girl, prosecutors announced on Wednesday.

David Charles Zastrow, 51, was charged with three counts; one count of traveling across state lines with the intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a minor, one count of enticing a minor and the other for kidnapping. His son, Christopher Zastrow, 21, was also arrested on a charge of child concealment.

David Zastrow befriended the victim’s family and shared an apartment with the girl and her mother in Florida. In February, the mother and her 14-year-old daughter moved to Bakersfield. David Zastrow and his son put their belongings in storage and made arrangements to take the victim from her mother in Bakersfield.

Their plan included smuggling a cell phone to the minor so she could have unlimited communication with David Zastrow. On March 17, the minor disappeared from her Bakersfield home. She was found in a Sacramento hotel last Tuesday evening. She is being interviewed and evaluated by the Child Protective Services.

Zastrow faces a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison and for traveling across state lines to attempt to engage in sexual conduct; for the enticing a minor charge, he faces a mandatory minimum penalty of 10 years’ imprisonment and a maximum of life in prison; the count of kidnapping carries a potential sentence of life in prison.
