Nov 7, (THAINDIAN NEWS) In a rather strange turn of events a man, who has been declared dead sixteen years ago, all of a sudden is hitting headlines after authorities allege that he killed a 12-year-old Nevada girl. 53-year-old Thomas Steven Sanders, was legally announced dead in Mississippi in 1994, by his family members, when he went missing for seven long years
The remains of the girl Lexis Roberts were found by hunters in Catahoula Parish, east-central Louisiana in early October. Lexis Roberts’ relatives said that she and her mother, Suellen Roberts, knew Thomas Steven Sanders since a few months. Sheriff’s officials in Arizona’s Coconino County said that the girl and her mother was last seen in Sept. 4 with the man when the three of them were apparently driving at Bearizona Drive-Thru Wildlife Park off Interstate 40 in Williams. Since then, both the mother and the daughter went missing. The police officials said that it was a 2001 Kia Spectra sedan with license plate 153-UCR which had damages on the passenger-side doors. The investigators also reported that according to the tapes of a Wal-Mart in Las Vegas, Thomas Steven Sanders bought a few ammunitions. Evidences of the same ammunitions were found near the body of Lexis Roberts.
The officials do not suspect Suellen Roberts as a suspect of her daughter’s murder as she is missing as well. They are trying to track down the history of Thomas Steven Sanders and their investigation so far has revealed that he has past records of crime against children. The authorities will interrogate his family members, who still live in Mississippi to know why he went missing sixteen years back and why he never came back.
