julianJuly 26, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Sunday leak of highly confidential U.S. military strategies and reports related to Afghanistan war on the controversial whistle-blowing website “Wikileaks” has brought the founder of the website Julian Assange under the spotlight once again. Julian Assange, who grabbed the media attention few months ago when his website came forward with leaked video footage of U.S. troop shooting at civilians in Iran, has once again shook the world by coming forward with around 90,000 classified war documents on its website. However, Julian Assange this time is not keeping quiet and on Monday he addressed the media in London.

Julian Assange spoke to media sources at the Frontline Club in central London regarding the posting of the leaked documents on his website. Julian Assange called for greater transparency during the conference and said that there is no reason to doubt the reliability of the documents that have been posted on Wikileaks. Julian Assange added that when the website publishes any material or document, it makes it a point to mention that “the document as we describe it is true”. The founder of Wikileaks went on to say that he believes that it is the U.S. government that has asked the Australian government to keep an eye on him and Wikileaks staff.

The Sunday leak of the Afghanistan war documents have brought once again to the limelight the chaotic situation reigning in war torn Afghanistan. While the White House has condemned the leak and ordered investigation, Julian Assange on Monday maintained that the leaked document is the “real story” which keeps in front of the people “the continuous small events, the continuous deaths of children, insurgents….”
