Laura Hadland Creates Giant Toast Mosaic of Mother-in-Law
October 21st, 2010 - 3:14 am ICT by Angela Kaye MasonOct 20 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Using nine thousand, eight hundred and fifty two pieces of toast, Laura Hadland has created the world’s largest toast mosaic, forming the slices of browned bread to form a replica of her mother-in-law’s face.
Laura is a twenty seven year old museum curator who used Facebook to recruit people and convinced forty friends to help her with her project, using six hundred loaves of bread to create the fiftieth birthday present. She used nine toasters which took over six hours to toast each piece to a certain degree so that the face could be created of Sandra Whitfield.
The mosaic was named the official world’s largest at 5:00 pm on October 17 by the Guinness Book of World Records at Warrington’s Par.
