July 24, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The wildlife officials have revealed a shocking news that on last Wednesday, July 14, a female rhinoceros was stabbed to death and her horn was removed in the Krugersdorp Game Reserve. The poachers have cruelly removed the horn of the last female rhinoceros and the Warrant Police officer Solomon Sibiya said that the rhino was found dead “just after 10:00″ and its horn had been cut off. The police officer said that they are investigating some positive lead in the matter.
The African wildlife experts have called for an urgent action for the poachers after this last female rhinoceros was killed. The Wildlife officials said that poaching for the prized horns have reached its end level and it is really disgraceful for the society. Japie Mostert, chief game ranger at the 1,500-hectare Krugersdorp game reserve said that last year 129 rhinoceros were killed for the horns in South Africa and this year it has exceeded to 136 just in the middle of the year. Wanda Mkutshulwa, a spokeswoman for South African National Parks said in one of her interviews that this case of continuous killing of rhinoceros had been shifted to South Africa’;s organized crime unit. She also added the poachers are very “focused” criminals and asked police to help game reserves as “they” are not so well equipped to handle such organized crime.
The incident has triggered alarm for the Wildlife officials as if this continues for long, then rhinoceroses would extinct someday from South Africa. The spokeswoman described that the poachers “saw off” the horns with a chainsaw and the animals die either because of the overdose of “tranquillizer” or bleeds to death. However, the Government has taken the matter seriously and it is expected that the poachers will be trapped soon.
