university Washington DC, Jan 3 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Lake Superior State University released on Friday its annual list of words that ought to be banned because of their “mis-use, over-use and general uselessness.” The public university in Michigan recommended “unfriending” 15 words and phrases from marketing, media, technology and other fields. Among them, “tweet” and all of its variations such as “tweetaholic” and “twitterhea,” and using the word “friend” as a verb to accept people in social networking websites. Amongst the other words who made it to the list are ‘sexting’ and ‘bromance’ and ‘app’.

The list also called for using the simpler words like ‘lesson’ in place “teachable moment.” And it also out-casted the words - “czars” and the “transparent” “transparency” of politics. Recession was also the inspiration for a lot of the words that made the list. Like in the last years list ‘bailout’ made its debut. And this year in 2010, the terms “stimulus” and “toxic assets” were banned as deplorable terms, and “in these economic times” was declared a scapegoat for national problems.

The university also didn’t spare the current US President Barack Obama, as it banned “Obama-banned” all prefix or roots attached to the name of President Barack Obama. “We say Obamanough already,” said the university.
