fire2One wonders when the nature will be spared by the repeated onslaught by the human species. The recent news of the blazing fire that broke out in the middle of Lake Ballinger once again points out the irresponsible behavior of the human lot, who probably gets away with anything and everything that they do.

According to the sources, the fire crews were battling it hard in order to extinguish the fire that had reportedly engulfed the small island situated in the middle of Lake Ballinger.

Reports suggest that a helicopter was used to dump water on the island in order to keep the blazing flames under the control of the authorities. The island which is measured at about 300 by 100 feet is a peat bog.

According to the statements revealed by the Snohomish County Fire District 1 spokeswoman Leslie Hynes, the main cause of the fire episode was instigated by the people who traveled to the island for a sort of picnic and in turn ignited the fire may be because of a failed barbecue party. “The barbecue was left there with some briquettes and lawn chairs,” said Hynes. Crews check the island through out the day and discovered another fire blazing at about 11.15 a.m. A repeated check at 5 p.m. showed no smoke.

Recent developments suggest that the blaze was last observed at about 6.15 p.m. and engulfed most of the areas of the island which is situated in the midst of Lake Ballinger.

“The smoke is mostly drifting to the south of the shoreline. We know its quite annoying for the neighbors as we are trying to get it under control,” said Hynes.
