London, Feb 2 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Lady Amelia Spencer appeared in court for assault on Tuesday. A Taxi driver had accused her of assaulting him.

The cabbie claims that the 18-year-old niece of Princess Diana yelled and hit him when he cut her Mini at a McDonald’s joint. Amelia denies the charges and her lawyers believe that she shouldn’t have been charged after the police investigation. The taxi driver, Ricci Cinti however does not believe that. He insists that Amelia assaulted him at the McDonald’s joint.

Amelia was out clubbing with friends in South Africa when the incident happened. She was going to get a burger at the joint when the taxi driver did cut her.

When she got to the court, her lawyer told the judge that the teenager shouldn’t have been charged. He believes that she has been greatly troubled ever since the incident happened.

The lawyer said the charges have caused the British royal “serious emotional trauma. She has just finished exams and does not deserve this.”

The incident happened last December. The judge after listening to both sides of the argument adjourned the case to a later date.

Amelia is the cousin of Prince William who is set to have the biggest wedding of 2011 in April.
