Kmart: New AnnouncementsJune 24th, 2009 - 9:12 pm ICT by GD
Kmart occupying free space of about 96,000 square feet, giving employment to 71 people, is going to close on Route 541 after 35 years of service. This big retailer has announced its closing as they were not in favor to renew the lease on the property, somehow they refused to disclose the fact whether they were profiting out of the location or not.
They have been thoughtful and generous enough to have their existing staff recruited to various other stores and are taking initiatives to encourage the staff to apply for the positions.
Kmart has recently come up in the news in two different contexts; On Monday, June 22nd, two men were charged with theft by Greeneville police as they stole merchandise from the Greeneville Kmart store. Again news about The Beebe Physician’s network collaborating with Kmart to start a walk-in clinic have also come up. Beebe spokesperson, Wallace Hudson told reporters that the clinic is meant for non-emergency only and people with chest pains or severe injuries should not visit the clinic. Its mainly for people who cannot see their family doctor due to their unavailability or have no need of emergency rooms. Kmart expects the clinic to be convenient care centers.
The clinic is supposed to remain open in hours when other clinics have closed, which will serve as a great boon for many. They are to remain open on Saturdays and Sundays from 9a.m to 5p.m, irrespective of the Kmart store timings. The clinic requires no prior appointment and its main aim remains to be quality service. With a fee of $99 the clinic is also said to have acceptability of various kinds of insurance.
