Apr 8, (THAINDIAN NEWS) In recent times a probe carried on the footwear used by legendary Egyptian king Tutankhamun has made the researchers feel that the king probably used special Orthopedic shoes. It was owing to his club foot condition. The footwear is 3300 year old and the tomb of the king was found by Howard Carter in 1922. The mummy of the ruler has been made to undergo x-ray quite a number of times. However, a recent study conducted on the genology of the king’s family has revealed that the pharaoh possibly had deformed feet. He suffered from Kohler disease II as it was earlier assumed. It is not known whether he walked with a cane, but the probability cannot be ruled out.
A bone was missing in the right foot of the king and his left foot was clubbed. The shoes that were discovered in the tomb of the king have horizontal straps below the toe area. It indicates that the King probably wore specially made shoes that helped him overcome the limitations of his feet. The feature was not found in any other shoe belonging to that period. It is quite astonishing to know that more than 80 footwears were found in the tomb of the young king. However, some of these shoes have become fragments owing to the ravages of time.
A number of footwear found in his tomb have straps attached to them. The discovery may provide the researchers and historians with new clues about the Egyptian King and his family. The young king is known as one of the most prominent rulers of Egypt.
