Honolulu, Mar 7 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Hawaii Kilauea volcano has greatly increased its activities. Scientists are closely monitoring the eruption after lava was spewed about 65 ft into the sky. The volcano has been erupting for 28 years now and the location attracts several tourists each year.

Officials closed the place off from visitors after one of the craters collapsed sinking to 370 ft. The crater that collapsed is called Pu’u ‘O’o. Officials also identified that a fissure had opened on the eastern side of the volcano. The fissure was measuring more than 1,500ft and was also spewing lava into the air. The air became thick with plumes as a result of the latest activities going in.

Scientists have been showing images of the activities as they go on. Government helicopters are constantly taking images of the events going on. There have been about 150 small earthquakes since the activities began. Scientists are shocked with the latest developments and admitted that the activities have taken them to the ‘unknown’.

Officials still maintain that the volcano is safe. It can be seen from about one and a half miles away so officials have closed the east rift zone to tourists for now.
