Kidnapped Daughter Reunites with Mom On Facebook
June 4th, 2010 - 7:57 pm ICT by Pen Men At WorkJune 4, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): It only happens in the films, but this time, it has happened in real life! In 1995, Faustino Utrera allegedly kidnapped his two children and vanished from their home in California to live in Florida. In 2010 March, the mother finds her daughter on Facebook.
The kids were very young when Utrera disappeared with them from San Bernardino, California. The police failed to track them all these years. But miracle happened when the mother saw her daughter’s profile in Facebook and started communicating with her. The daughter, now all of 17, did not like to have any contact with her mother and deleted the Facebook profile.
However, this has provided a clue to the California police and they could locate the children who were reunited with their mother.
The father faced an arrest warrant by the California police and he was taken into custody in Florida. Utrera was caught by the Osceola County Sheriff’s Deputies when he was waiting outside the Celebration High School to pick up his 16-year-old son from school. Both the children are in the same school. They were staying at the Palm Key mobile home park in Polk County Florida.
Now, Utrera is facing a kidnapping charge as well as that of violating the child custody orders. The Florida Department of Family and Children Services, is now taking care of the children. The extradition process of Utrera is on and arrangements is also on for the return of the children to California.
