Dagestan, Jan 27 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A weightlifting instructor in Dagestan proved to be a bad target for two kidnappers. Police in the country say the kidnappers abducted the 34-year-old and demanded 2 million rubles ($66,000) before freeing him. He however freed himself and killed one of the abductors. The other one is on the run and has been placed on the wanted list by the police.

Local media houses say the kidnapers handcuffed the man and kept him at the basement of his own gym where he stayed overnight. He managed to break free when one of the abductors left the building. He reportedly picked a gun left on the table by the abductors and shot the remaining one. Police say he died instantly.

The police has not given any names so far. The only information about the incident is that it took place in the city of Derbent. The reports failed to state how the man managed to break free from the handcuffs.

Reports say the country’s police are not likely to charge the man. The incident is seen as self defense. A nationwide search has commenced for the other kidnaper who is still at large.
