High school teacher, Kasey Johnes from southern Illinois has been charged with sexual assault for allegedly having a five-month relationship with one of her students.

According to police reports from Edwardsville Kasey E. Johnes, 37, of Glen Carbon was arrested on a $100,000 bond at the Madison County jail. She is charged with having a sexual relationship with a male student from fall that ended in February. The school has also placed Johnes on unpaid leave till the trial.

The student was a senior at Edwardsville High School and was 17 year old at the time of the relationship. He has turned 18 now. No comments were available form the student or his family because the police have not divulged his name or other details to the press yet. No comments were available from Kasey Johnes on the matter either.

Johnes is charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse as well and it is not clear if she as employed an attorney to defend her yet. This allegation comes in the wake on other incidents involving an illegitimate sexual relationship between a teacher and minor students. Earlier, the raped and murdered body of Sandra Cantu was found in an irrigation pond and the police have arrested her 38-year old Sunday school teacher on counts of murder as well as kidnapping, rape with a foreign object and lewd or lascivious conduct with a child under 14. There were other reports of such sexual misconduct between teachers and students too recently. A female Rich South High School teacher was also booked for having sex with a 16 year old male student recently.
