July 12th is Pecan Pie Day

Though the sweet was first baked by French immigrants, it has grown over the years to become one of the favorite cookies in the United States.
The Pecan Pie Day is marked with loved ones sharing the treat. While some go to the extra mile of baking the pie, others prefer to get the sweet from the bakery. The Pecan Pie Day is all about sharing. While lovers take the opportunity to eat the pie, others who cannot get the treat from the bakery or bake it themselves end up getting one from their friends.
Workers take some of the pie to work where they share it with loved ones. It is not immediately clear how the day came into existence but it no doubt shows the level of love that Americans attach to their pecan pie. The ingredients of a pecan pie have not changed that much over the years. Typical pecan pie has pecans, sugar, eggs and pie crust.
The National Pecan Shellers Association say pecans contain Vitamin E which is essential in lowering bad cholesterol level.
