Mar 5 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Italian judge Giancarlo Massei has issued her legal opinion in the case of Amanda Knox. In it she states that the case against Amanda Knox in the murder of her British room mate, back in 2007, had no gaps or inconsistencies. This opinion was published on Thursday.
Knox, who was in Italy as an exchange student, and her former boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito, who was an engineering student, were convicted in December of the murder of Meredith Kercher. The courts decided that Knox and her boyfriend, along with another man, Rudy Guede of Ivory Coast, who was convicted of murder earlier, had killed Meredith in a sex game that was fueled by drugs. They claim the game turned violent, and in the process, Meredith was murdered. Meredith was found lying half nude in a pool of her own blood.
In the 427 page legal opinion given by Massei and signed by co-judge Beatrice Cristiani, the judges said that the murder was a result of a combination of purely random events, and “with no planning, no animosity or rancour against the victim.” A private investigator Paul Ciolino, who is a CBS News consultant, said that the document was only written to justify the court’s “crazy decision.” He went on to say that the verdict was “more about national pride and anti-Americanism than about justice.”
After reading over the long explanation by the court, Knox’s parents are asking lawyers to begin the appeal process.
