Michigan, May 7 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A judge has ruled that nine members of a Michigan militants who have been detained, can leave jail until their trial begins. The judge ordered on Monday that the nine members should be released, because they did not pose any threat to the public, if they went home while awaiting their trial. The family members of the detained militia were very happy with the verdict.

This ruling by US District Judge Victoria Roberts overturns an April 2 ruling of a Federal Magistrate judge. She also questioned the strength of the government’s case against the members. She however said the released members could be kept a track of, and monitored with other strict measures.

The arrested people belong to a group, and they are members of the southern Militia group called Hutaree. They were arrested and charged in March for conspiracy to commit sedition and use of weapons of mass destruction. However the judge said the prosecutors failed to show that the jail was the only way to ensure public safety. David Stone was reported to be the leader of the group that had planned to kill a police officer and also trigger off some bombs.

“It’s frustrating,” said William Rataj, who represents David Stone’s wife, Tina. “The government is so desperate right now. I just hope the 6th Circuit does what Victoria Roberts did and gives these people bonds.”
